APPROACHING THE PROBLEM OF ILLITERACY/SCHOOL DROP-OUTS

 

 

RATIONALE:                       

Because of the recognized problem of school dropouts and illiteracy, especially in the population we serve, we propose a system to provide the local Club/Centers a tool to increase their effectiveness in addressing this need.

 

DEFINITION:                       

A divisional system to motivate, recognize and reward the improvement in, and maintaining of, scholastic excellent, with special emphasis on the potential school dropout, slow learner and unmotivated student.

 

STRUCTURE:           

The name of the system will be R.E.A.C.H.  An acronym for Reading, Education, Attendance, Conduct, Honors.  The time frame for each competition period will be one school year.

The R.E.A.C.H./Powerhour Banquet will be held on FRIDAY June 25th, 2010 at Carowinds.

 All information must be recevied by DHQ by June 1st.

The meal will be served from 11:30 until 1:30.  Everyone is expected to be there at that time.  If groups continue to show up late, it may become necessary to give the tickets out at the gate.  There will be plenty of time to visit in the park after the service.  Please remind your staff of the reason of the Banquet to honor those that has worked hard all year to earn this award.  Click on one of the links below for registration & recognition information!!!
